Dragons Defeat Tribe in Home Finale, 64-57

Philadelphia—Drexel raced out to a big first half lead and defeated William & Mary on Senior Night at the DAC, 64-57. The Dragons (21-7, 12-5 CAA) held the Tribe (15-13, 8-9) to just 17 points in the first half as they opened up a 40-17 halftime lead and never looked back. Drexel now has 21 this season, the most the school has had since the 1996-97 team won 22 games.
Senior Dominick Mejia (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern) scored 14 of his team-high 16 points in the first half and knocked down four of his five long range attempts in the half. Scott Rodgers (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) played well early and had 11 points in the first 20 minutes. He finished with 14 points in the game. Drexel shot 60 percent in the half and made six three-pointers.
Frank Elegar (Bronx, N.Y./St. Raymond's) came off the bench to score 12 points as Drexel Head Coach Bruiser Flint started all five seniors on his roster. Chaz Crawford (Philadelphia, Pa./Hargrave Military) grabbed 14 rebounds in his final appearance at the DAC. Senior Bashir Mason (Jersey City, N.J./St. Benedict's) added eight points, five assists and a pair of steals.
Adam Payton scored a game-high 20 points for the Tribe, who tried to make a game of it late. William & Mary made a late 14-2 run to end the game. The Tribe shot 52 percent in the second half and were 5-for-11 from deep after making just one of its 14 long-range attempts in the first half.
The game also marked the final regular season home appearance for Drexel seniors Jake Rauchbach (Chapel Hill, N.C./Pendleton) and Matt Stevenson (Towson, Md./Loch Raven).
